Hello friends,
With 2025 ready to unfold, I found it’s time for something new.
In recent times, I began to build an appetite for more meaningful dialogue, the kind that most platforms don’t allow to truly foster. While Instagram has been a wonderful platform for sharing my work visually, I started to feel the need for a space that allows for more intentional connection with my community, more thoughtful reflection, and valuable conversation.
I’m therefore excited to welcome you to my new Substack channel.
What to Expect Here?
Here, I’ll dive deeper into the philosophy behind my work, and share not just the polished outcomes, but the raw process that comes first — the struggles, the doubt, the victories, and the stories that inspire my work. It’s also my way of giving back for all the support you’ve shown me over the years.
It won’t be just about photography — it’s about growth, purpose, and impact. And above anything else, about finding your own unique voice. I’ll share insights into my creative process, the inspirations that fuel my work, and the lessons learned along the way, far away from the superficial craziness that is social media. See it as a playground for those who want to go beyond the surface, experiencing a more intimate and detailed perspective on the journey that shapes what I create.
I want this Substack to feel like a campfire conversation — raw, honest, and inspiring. So whether you're a seasoned creative or just starting out, and you love a good tale, this space is for you.
What’s in it for you?
As this channel slowly takes shape, here’s what you can look forward to:
More of my work: A deeper, more detailed look into my work and access to a wide range of unseen photographs and stories
Insight into the creation of next book: An exclusive insight into the development of “Los Puesteros”, my second book, and my first-ever monograph, photographed in Chile over the course of the last 5 years
Lessons for Photographers: Learning more about the philosophy of photographic story-telling, practical insights on building a creative career, tips for finding your unique voice, balancing travel and life, and staying inspired in an often-chaotic world
Anecdotes & Reflections: Tales from my travels — the mishaps, the triumphs, and the moments that stayed with me long after all camera’s are packed away
A new issue is published every two weeks on Wednesday.
I’d love to hear how this resonates with you in the comments. I’m excited to connect with you on a deeper level.
Love, Pie
In 2 weeks from now: A deep-dive into my recent work in Egypt
In the next edition, I’ll be sharing a photographic deep-dive into a recent assignment I shot in Egypt, last December. I traveled the length of the River Nile - stretching from Cairo to Aswan - on board Steam Ship Sudan, on assignment for Voyageurs du Monde. You will be the first people to see the work and I will provide context to the photographs.

Let’s build something meaningful together.
Hi Pie, great initiative and looking forward. Also a good step to built your own community which you can reach directly via e-mail, since being dependent on the algorithm of Instagram is a great risk. Cheers!
This all sounds great. I'll look forward to riding along with you 🙂
